Preventative Maintenance for Your Luxury Car’s Engine
People often say that the computer is the brain of your luxury vehicle. If that’s so, then the engine would be the heart. Without proper maintenance and prompt repairs, you won’t be driving your luxury vehicle out of the driveway. Unfortunately, poor engine maintenance is one of the most common problems with modern cars. For the money you paid, you would expect the engine to run indefinitely. That’s not the case, however.
Here are a few preventative maintenance tips for your luxury car’s engine.
- Keep it Clean — The engine must be kept free and clear of debris, dust, and grime, all of which can build up over time. As time passes, the filters become blocked, and grease covers the engine to create a heat trap. It’ll be tough for the engine to cool down, and you’ll wind up with warped parts.
- Spark Plugs — The spark plug is an often-ignored piece of the engine. They’re imperative to performance, however. On occasion, the spark plugs should be removed and cleaned to prevent dirt and grime from accumulating in the combustion chamber.
- Lubrication — With so many moving parts in your luxury car’s engine, lube is a must-have. Otherwise, the friction will grind away at the components and cause irreparable damage. You’ll wind up replacing a critical element for quite a high cost. The parts requiring lubrication include the crankshaft, piston rings, and cylinder walls.
- Oil Change — To some, an oil change is an inconvenience. It’s necessary, in any case. An oil change helps keep your engine in top shape and running at peak performance throughout the year. It’s best to have the oil checked every six months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first.
